Tax
Keep a tax profile, record the assumptions behind an estimate, see what you’re likely to owe to date, and get planning ideas to take to your CPA.
Your tax profile
Everything on the Tax page starts from your Tax profile. Select Edit profile to record your entity type and federal classification, where you’re based and where you file, your accounting method and fiscal year start, whether you run payroll, collect sales tax, have foreign activity, carry inventory or fixed assets, or issue 1099s, and your prior-year liability and estimated payments so far.
Assumption sets
An estimate is only as good as its assumptions, so Pocket-CFO keeps them explicit. Under Assumption sets, select New set and record each assumption with its Value, its Source, and your Confidence in it, from 0 to 100. Keeping several sets lets you compare, say, a cautious case with an expected one.
Tax estimates
Select Create estimate, choose a Period end date, and optionally an assumption set. The estimate shows:
- Total estimated tax
- Payments made
- Amount due to date
- A confidence score, and warnings where the inputs are thin
Planning recommendations
Tax planning recommendations suggest things worth raising with your CPA, each with a Recommended action and a confidence score.
Not tax advice
Estimates and recommendations help you prepare for a conversation with a tax professional; they don’t replace one. Pocket-CFO doesn’t file returns or determine your tax liability, and every estimate carries that disclaimer.
