Client grants

A grant lets a client share one company with your firm while keeping their own organization, subscription, and control. The client creates and revokes it; your firm accepts it.

What a grant is

A grant is how a client shares one of their companies with your firm without moving it. The company stays in the client’s own Pocket-CFO organization — their subscription, their team, their accounting connections — and your firm is given access to it. The client decides: they create the grant, and they can revoke it at any time.

For the client: share a company

An owner or admin of the client’s organization:

  1. Opens Settings → Advisor access → Manage advisor access.
  2. Chooses the Company, enters the Advisor email, picks an Access level, and selects Send invitation.

The advisor receives an email with a link. The invitation token is also shown once on screen with a Copy token button, so it can be passed on another way if the email doesn’t arrive. Active grants are listed under Current grants, each with a Revoke button.

For the firm: accept the invitation

  1. Sign in as the person the invitation was sent to.
  2. Open the link from the email, or go to Advisor → Grants and paste the token.
  3. Select Accept invitation. The company is added to your portfolio with a Granted badge.

The invitation is bound to the email address it was sent to: it can only be accepted by someone signed in with that exact address, so a forwarded link is useless to anyone else. It attaches to the organization you are signed in to, and an organization can’t accept its own grant.

Invitation links expire after seven days and work once. An accepted grant has no expiry — it lasts until the client revokes it.

What granted access includes today

Today, a grant gives your firm read-only access to the shared company’s:

  • Dashboard
  • Metric snapshots
  • Forecasts

The invitation offers three access levels — Read, Edit, and Manage. They are recorded with the grant, but at the moment every level gives the same read-only access listed above. Everything else — changing mappings, running syncs, generating board packs — is done by the client, or by your firm for companies it holds directly. Billing and the ability to re-share the company always stay with the client, at every level.

Revoking access

The client revokes a grant — pending or accepted — from Current grants. It takes effect on your firm’s next request: the company disappears from your portfolio, and any analyst assignments to it are removed with it.

Good to know

  • Only one live grant can exist per company and advisor email; a second invitation to the same address is refused.
  • Granted companies don’t count toward your firm’s company limit.
  • Creating, accepting, revoking, and expiring a grant are all recorded in the audit trail — acceptance on the client’s trail, so the client can always see who has access to their books and since when.
